Installation at your business

If you’re thinking about operating electric vehicles (EV), it’s worth considering installing a dedicated EV charging station at your business.

Early electrical infrastructure planning is encouraged, particularly if a high-capacity EV fast charger is to be installed as these installations consume a large amount of energy.

Like all appliances on a dedicated circuit, the EV chargers will need to be installed by a licensed electrician. In some instances, our approval is required where you need to upgrade supply to your property.

If a bi-directional charger is being installed, registration is required. This can be done through our Connections Portal.

Bi-directional EV chargers

A bi-directional charger is capable of charging your vehicle and exporting power back into your home or the Endeavour Energy grid. All capable bi-directional chargers need to be approved by us, and registered through our Connections Portal.

Some applications of bi-directional charging include:
•    Vehicle to Grid (V2G), where energy is fed back to the gird via the connection point
•    Vehicle to Home (V2H), where energy is self-consumed, being fed directly to appliances or circuits within a home or business
•    Vehicle to Load (V2L), where energy is self-consumed, being fed directly to an appliance or circuit connected to the charger

Connections requiring an Accredited Service Provider (ASP)

Where you require a new or upgraded connection to the network, you will need to engage an ASP to connect your EV charging station.

Depending on the size of your proposed EV charging station, you will need:

  • Level 1 and 3 ASPs (Construction and Design): needed if network upgrade is required to provide the proposed load

  • Level 2 ASP (Service): needed if the network has enough capacity to supply your chosen location

Additional points of supply for existing EV fast chargers

Under NSW regulations, only one power service is typically allowed per property. If you need a second point of supply for an EV charger, you can apply for special approval through our Connections Portal.

Each application is assessed individually and must be approved before any work begins. If approved, you’ll need to follow strict safety and labelling requirements, including clear diagrams, proper cable separation, and durable signage.
