Why lighting matters

Street lighting plays a key role in community safety. It helps prevent accidents, supports night-time travel and makes public spaces feel safer and more welcoming. We maintains over 200,000 streetlights across our region and we’re responsible for making sure those lights stay on across streets, main roads, paths and parks, to help people stay safe and access these areas at night.

Lighting repairs and responsibilities

We share responsibility for public lighting with local councils and developers.

  • Endeavour Energy: Maintains, inspects, cleans, repairs and upgrades
  • Local councils: Approve funding, plans where lighting is needed
  • Developers: Manage the design and delivery of lighting in new subdivisions

Contact your local council to request enhanced street lighting in your neighbourhood.
